Rimot.io Inc. awarded seed funding from SDTC for marine vessel electrification software

Funds to advance Rimot’s technology to unlock the full environmental and economic value of marine vessel batteries to the benefit of electrical utilities and vessel owners

April 25, 2022, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia – Today, Rimot announced that Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) has awarded Rimot seed funding. SDTC’s seed funding supports promising early-stage Canadian entrepreneurs with one-time grants for innovative technological projects with environmental benefits.

Global electricity grids and transportation are transitioning toward net-zero emissions at a pace never seen before. Rimot is addressing the critical and emerging challenges of fully realizing the environmental benefits associated with transitioning to electric, and barriers to further accelerating electrical vessel adoption rates.

“The future of near-shore vessels is becoming increasingly electric, Rimot’s technology has the potential to improve these electric batteries,” said Leah Lawrence, President & CEO of SDTC. “We’re proud to support Rimot as they advance their mission and improve environmental outcomes in the marine sector.”

Rimot’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of electric marine vessels by leveraging software to improve financial outcomes and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

“SDTC has a long-standing reputation of being an accelerant for companies scaling environmental technology. We view this initial funding from SDTC as an important enabler toward the development of our technology, which will change the way electric-powered marine vessels are integrated with electricity grids for greater economic and environmental good.”

Andrew Boswell, CEO Rimot Inc.
